Curious how I go from “0” to writing high-performing sales funnel content for each of my clients? Here’s an overview of my process!
How I Work With New Copywriting Clients
1. Intro Call. Your first step is to book an intro call with me. During this 30-minute call, I’ll ask you about your copywriting needs, your business, and what your goals are. I’ll record the call and use it as a reference for any future work that we do together.
2. Payment. If you decide to move forward on a sample project, retainer package, or funnel package, I’ll send you a link where you can submit payment.
3. Research/Questionnaire. I’ll closely review our initial call to ensure that I didn’t miss any details. If needed, I’ll send you a Copywriting Questionnaire to learn more about your target market, your business, brand voice, offerings, etc. As a “New Client,” you’ll only need to fill out this questionnaire once.
Most clients start working with me by having me write (or edit) their sales funnel content, as this is the foundation of selling online.
My Process for Writing a Sales Funnel (a.k.a. Marketing Funnel)
4. Decide on your “free gift” or irresistible free ofter. Together we’ll brainstorm 1-3 “free gifts” you could potentially offer to strangers and cold traffic, based on your questionnaire answers and our first call.
5. Write the Rough Draft copy for each of your funnel assets:
- Landing page
- Email sequence (5-7 or more emails)
- Sales page

6. Edit, Review, and Finalize the Copy
I’ll email each of the copy assets to you as I complete them, so you can review them and make any changes or edits directly to the Word doc.
Note: Editing is a collaborative, back-and-forth process that may take 1-3 rounds before we get it right. Once we finalize all the copy, the next step is to set it up on the appropriate website(s) and design it.
7. Tech Setup & Design. If you already have a tech person and/or designer on your team, I can collaborate with them as needed to get everything set up properly.
If you DON’T have these hirees on your team, I can outsource the tech & design parts and manage the process for you, for an additional fee.
A note on tech stuff: Your funnel assets can be set up through your own websites/domains, and/or through a 3rd party site such as Click Funnels, Go High Level, etc.
You’ll need an Email Newsletter Provider (such as MailChimp, GetResponse, Infusionsoft, etc.) to send out your emails.
8. Test Your Funnel and Work Out the Kinks. Once everything is set up, we will test your funnel, quality-control it, and make sure every link and image works properly before you launch it to the public.
9. Launch Your Funnel and Drive Traffic to Your Landing Page! Once your funnel is public, your job now is to drive traffic to your landing page indefinitely!
Traffic can come from both free and/or paid sources.
Free traffic includes:
- word of mouth and free referrals (most valuable)
- organic Google searches for keywords and terms related to your niche
- YouTube searches
- social media posts
- podcast interviews where you’re a guest on someone’s show
- partnering with others who are complementary (not competitive) to your niche and what you offer
- speaking on stages for free
- handing out your business card to people you meet, etc.
Paid traffic includes:
- paid ads (Facebook, Google, etc.)
- paying a fee to be a guest on high-profile podcasts or stages
- paying someone to feature your guest blog article on their high-traffic website, etc.
- paid referrals and/or affiliates where you pay someone a commission or fee for referring clients to you
10. Take consistent action and determine your most effective marketing strategy.
As you start driving traffic to your landing page and/or website, ideally you’ll be getting new qualified leads signing up to your email list who will then click to your sales page (or your offer). During this process, pay attention to what’s working.
Gauge to see how people are responding to each part your funnel.
– Are they signing up to your free gift? (Yes/no)
– Are they clicking the links in your emails? (Yes/no)
– Are they purchasing?
– How many who clicked the link are purchasing?
– Are they sending you questions or positive comments through emails, DMs, or other channels?
– Are they booking calls with you?
– Are they purchasing after having a call with you?
– Are they calling your office?
– Are they filling out an application?
… or are there CRICKETS?
Seek to replicate it what works. And ignore or minimize what isn’t working.
As we gain a good understanding of how people are responding to your landing page, your free offer, your email promotions, and your sales page, we’ll know exactly what’s working and what isn’t. We’ll be able to course-correct and make changes where needed.
Change 1 thing at time, test it, and gauge the results. This is marketing!
10. Refine, Test, & Fine-Tune Your Funnel as You Learn More About What Your Top Clients & Customers Really Want
“All marketing is a test.” – Steph Tuss, former CEO for David Neagle of Life is Now, Inc.
Sometimes marketing strategies work so well, you can squeeze 1 year, 5 years, or even 10 years of profit out of the same strategy without really changing it much.
Sometimes the market changes… or your business changes… or YOU change, so then the marketing stops working. In which case, you may need to go back to the drawing board.
You must truly love your business… because this stuff takes work, and you need to be willing to make it work!
Who My Sales Funnel Copywriting Package Is For:
My sales funnel copywriting is for you if:
- You have a proven product or service that is already selling, and you’re ready to ramp up sales online and make sales on autopilot (without you having to individually talk to each potential customer)
- You’re super passionate about your business and you love serving your clients or customers
- You can’t wait to start attracting more high-quality traffic, leads, and sales online
This package is NOT for you if:
- If you’re new in business, or you haven’t made very many sales yet. (If that’s you, you don’t need a funnel yet. Your goal should be to talk to as many people as possible.)
