As a copywriter, content writer, and editor, I’ve been helping business owners write in a way that builds strong, memorable brands for over ten years.
My #1 goal has always been the same: to help business owners profit big through their writing.
Most of my clients started small and learned how to profit big over time by consistently writing in their own unique voice, while having me edit their words. They’re moms and dads who are hellbent on providing a great product or service to their market. They’re unconventional entrepreneurs who do things differently.
No matter what you’re selling or what niche you’re in, I recommend using a simple landing page to collect emails from leads—i.e., people who have intent to solve a problem or create an outcome that you can help them with.
I don’t mean a complicated, confusing, landing page that you can’t edit because it’s so technologically complex or long-winded.
I mean a simple, elegant page with one purpose only: to collect email addys of high-quality leads.
When someone gives you their email address, they’re giving you permission to contact them and follow up with them. That’s where the magic happens in business. Whether you follow up with them individually via a phone call or Zoom call, or whether you email thousands of people simultaneously via a newsletter—getting someone’s contact info is the starting point of making sales.
With an email, you can schedule a chat, pre-qualify someone, survey someone, ask or answer quick questions, and much more.
To create a landing page that brings you high-quality leads, there are 3 things to keep in mind:
1. Keep the copy simple and easy to understand, so that even a 5th grader could know what it means. Use short, simple words (not big, intellectual words that require a college degree to decipher).
2. Keep the page short, above the fold, so that visitors don’t have to scroll down the page. This is super important in a world where most people are viewing things on their phone and have the attention span of a gnat.
3. Have every word and image on the page revolve around one goal only—to get people to opt in to your free gift or free offer. (No other distractions, links, or options should be on the page.)
That’s it! Those are the 3 secrets to a landing page that brings you high-quality leads.
Remember… your landing page is NOT your newsletter. It’s NOT your social media. It’s NOT a well-thought out article where you have space to get creative, express yourself, and offer lots of deep topics.
It’s just a page to collect high-quality leads. That’s it.
